The Trauma and Violence Specialized Primary Care Program (TVSPCP) is an innovative new initiative providing comprehensive, trauma‑and‑violence‑informed primary care for individuals who have experienced interpersonal, structural, and systemic violence. The program places particular focus on responding to the needs of those impacted by gender‑based violence (GBV), recognizing its profound and lasting impacts on health, safety, and access to care. This integrated model brings together primary care, mental health, and social supports to improve access, equity, and outcomes for populations traditionally underserved by the health system. Grounded in evidence and guided by principles of health equity, cultural safety, and anti‑oppression, the program is committed to ongoing research, evaluation, and quality improvement to ensure services remain responsive, accountable, and impactful. The Trauma and Violence Specialized Primary Care Program is currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist (NP/CNS) who will be a key clinical and strategic contributor to the success of this emerging program. In addition to providing advanced primary care within a collaborative interprofessional team, the NP/CNS will participate in research, and support continuous quality improvement initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to shape a program from the ground up, while directly impacting the health and well‑being of clients with complex histories of trauma, including survivors of gender‑based violence, intimate partner violence, and other forms of structural harm. Essential Qualifications Valid registration with College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse Extended Class with no restrictions Master's of Science in Nursing (MScN) or Master's of Nursing (MN) Nurse Practitioner certificate in either Primary Health Care or Adult Member of RNAO, NPAO, Canadian Nurses Protective Society (CNPS) with professional liability insurance Minimum three years of recent clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in primary care, community health, or mental health settings Demonstrated expertise in trauma‑and‑violence‑informed care, with an understanding of the intersection of trauma, equity, and health Experience working with structurally marginalized populations, including those impacted by homelessness, poverty, racism, and/or gender‑based violence Knowledge of harm reduction, anti‑oppressive practice, and culturally safe care models Experience in program development, quality improvement, and clinical research Active pursuit of knowledge, skills, and expertise in best practice patterns, and ability to translate them into clinical practice Proven creative initiatives in care planning, problem‑solving, conflict management, and independent handling of priorities and emergencies Effective interpersonal and group skills Demonstrated experience with utilization and generation of research Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA Ability and commitment to act as a supervisor under OHSA Demonstrated critical thinking and problem‑solving skills Demonstrated skill and understanding of electronic medical records systems Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in French would be an asset Teaching and Research St. Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital.
