Linux Desktop & Devices Support Engineer Canonical invites you to join as a Linux Desktop & Devices Support Engineer, a role that blends technical expertise with customer‑centric service. You will deliver support for the full desktop and server stack of Ubuntu, manage support cases from qualification through resolution, and collaborate with senior engineers when necessary. Responsibilities Investigate and troubleshoot customer issues, research root causes, and determine escalation paths. Resolve complex technical problems related to Canonical’s product portfolio. Own support cases, ensuring they meet SLA targets and achieve high customer satisfaction. Engage customers via phone, ticketing systems, and remote sessions to solve issues. Participate in a regular weekend working rotation as required. Contribute new knowledge‑base articles and maintain existing content. Understand the Ubuntu development process to set accurate expectations on fix timelines. Qualifications Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills. Strong academic background or a compelling alternative path. Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or equivalent experience. Track record of exceeding expectations and delivering outstanding results. Hands‑on Linux troubleshooting (logs, stack traces, configuration editing). Experience integrating Linux with authentication/directory services and network file systems. Ability to navigate stack traces, logs, and determine proper escalation. Solid understanding of OS and application‑level bugs. Rapid learning ability, adaptability, and resilience in a customer‑facing role. Programming fundamentals in any language. Availability to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks each time. Extensive customer support experience with a focus on professional communication and expectation management.
