Supporting the Payroll Specialist, thePayroll Assistantwill be responsible for supporting and executing payroll activities and ensuring the payroll is on time and accurately reflects current Collective agreements/continued compliance with all government bodies. i.e., CRA, Service Canada, WCB, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the full cycle in-house weekly and biweekly payrolls, including vacation coverage

  • Ensure that all information received is processed in the correct pay period and accurately reflects those changes.

  • Develop a thorough knowledge of union agreements, benefits and compliance of all outside agencies

  • Provide support and assistance to the accounting group

  • Other duties as directed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years payroll experience

  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation or in progress is an asset

  • Post-secondary education in business or related field

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Organizational skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Experience with Jonas Construction Management Software is an asset
