The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA) provides leadership in health promotion, early detection, treatment and research for cancer at our two cancer centres, the Allan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina, and the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. Our vision is a healthy population free from cancer, and our more than 900 dedicated employees work hard every day towards this vision.Being a Nurse PractitionerNurse practitioners in oncology provide comprehensive direct patient care as a central member of the Medical Services team.As a direct care provider, nurse practitioners (NP) provide advanced, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing evaluation or treatment for cancer. They perform comprehensive assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, manage symptoms, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with oncologists.The NPs provide ongoing education and emotional support to patients and families, helping them understand diagnoses, therapies, side-effects, and survivorship or palliative care options. They monitor patient progress between physician visits, and adjust care plans to optimize quality of life.
