General Accountant

One Floral Group is a wholesale flower producer that provides tailored floral solutions to retail customers throughout North America and is one of the fastest growing producers of floral products. Our business has over four million square feet of growing and production space in more than six facilities in three different climate zones. We have the ability to grow and build a variety of products, including potted plants and planters, outdoor lawn and garden plants, and vegetable propagation in the best conditions.Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this position will be responsible for a variety of general accounting functions such as account reconciliations and CAPEX schedules. This position is a contract position to cover a maternity leave (18 months). This role will also be responsible for developing and generating various types of management reports that will be used to support the facilities and department managers. Some duties will include supporting the annual budget and ongoing latest estimate process and be involved with sales reporting. This position will support the various needs of the finance department to support the operations of the business and be a critical support for the Controller and Director of Finance. The ideal candidate must be inquisitive by nature and willing to dig deeper, be hardworking, eager to learn, detail oriented, a critical thinker and come with existing accounting knowledge.Skills and qualifications required:Certificate, Degree or higher, in Finance, Business or Accounting.1 – 3 years of related accounting experience.Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.), with advanced proficiency in MS Excel.Excellent communication skills required (both verbal and written).Strong attention to detail.Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong organizational and time management skills.Experience working with Navision ERP system would be an asset.Primary ResponsibilitiesComplete all scheduled month-end tasks within assigned deadlines.Prepare month-end and ad hoc journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.Prepare month-end and ad hoc financial reporting as required by Management on a weekly or monthly basis.General Ledger account reconciliations on a monthly/quarterly basis.Preparation and maintenance of capital asset records and capital expenditure reporting for Management.Provide back‑up duties for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.Assist with preparing and supporting year‑end audit and any other audit/tax return requirements.Prepare ad‑hoc finance/accounting related projects and financial analysis for decision making as required by Management.Provide assistance to other finance team members when needed.Other duties as assigned.Health and SafetyMaintain a safe and healthy work environment.Recognize and report unsafe conditions and practices to prevent injuries and property loss.Follow and adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and other relevant Codes and Standards.Additional InformationReports to the Financial ControllerStart Date: As soon as possibleHours of work: M-F 8:00 am – 4:30 pmVacation: 3 weeks of prorated vacationBenefits at 3 months (dental starts at 6 months)Anyone who can legally work in Canada can apply for this job.
