Employment equity will be considered therefore applicants who identify as women, Indigenous people, members of racialized groups, and persons with a disability are encouraged to apply.If you require an accommodation at any time during the recruitment process, please let us know how we can meet your needs.Reporting to the Program Manager, Government & Stakeholder Relations, the Government and Stakeholder Relations Officer is responsible for supporting the cultivation and maintenance of relationships between Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries (MBLL) and government, supporting the flow of information between MBLL and government, as well as supporting internal departments with other external relationships including regulators, industry & community partners, customers, and other stakeholder organizations.DutiesSupport MBLL’s relationship with the provincial governmentShare and provide guidance related to: government announcements, policy changes, processes, and changes to government structure relevant to MBLL.Provide guidance and support to internal departments in meeting MBLL’s legislated and other government obligations as a crown corporation.Provide guidance to the organization in its engagement with a range of external stakeholders that supports positive and effective relationships.Monitor key policy developments: in other provinces and jurisdictions; within federal legislation and initiatives, and within other relevant organizations.Liaise regularly with senior management, operational staff, government, and other stakeholders as required, as a key resource to facilitate information sharing and issues resolution.Maintain confidentiality and discretion as required in sharing information and managing issues.Prepare and assist with urgent and time-sensitive assignments such as briefing notes, ministerial and executive correspondence, and other requests.Act as a key resource to assist executive management in the coordination of legislated activities and the preparation of related materialsProvide support as required in managing and responding to FIPPA requestsParticipate on committees and corporate project teams as required.Represent the organization at sponsored events, as and when required.Perform other duties as assignedQualificationsDegree or diploma from a recognized social or political sciences, business, or public administration program or an equivalent combination of related education and experienceA minimum of five years’ experience in the fields of policy research and evaluation, public relations, or government and stakeholder relations.Demonstrated political acumen, critical thinking skills, and ability to undertake issues analysis.Proven ability to build professional and productive relationships with colleagues at all levels of the corporation, clients, and stakeholders.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and time management skills.Proven track record with problem solving, resolving conflict, and engagement with stakeholders while maintaining courtesy, discretion, diplomacy and confidentiality.Experience and proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook).The core competencies for this position include achieving quality results, adaptability/managing change, communication, customer service, decision making and problem solving, integrity and building trust, teamwork and cooperation and valuing diversity. These competencies are deemed important for the success of the position and organization.Secondary QualificationsKnowledge of Manitoba government legislation and requirements related to Crown Corporations generally and regarding liquor, gaming and cannabis more specificallyKnowledge or experience with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and related proceduresStrong understanding of provincial government operations, structure, and processes.All Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries employees may apply.
