Further information is available at www.bgis.comSUMMARYThe Payroll Team Lead assists the Senior Manager, Payroll with the daily operations to ensure payroll is processed and accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings and company deductions are completed. In addition, this role plays a part in preliminary month end reconciliations and processing of regular reports.This role acts as an escalation point in resolving time data discrepancies/errors, and ensures all activities are completed in accordance with the BGIS’s policies and procedures, and standard regulations.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPayroll ProcessingOversees the daily processing within the department under the guidance of the Payroll Manager.Helps coordinate the planning, execution, and accurate processing of the weekly and biweekly payroll processes.Provides support to the entire organization regarding all payroll related matters as needed per Payroll Manager.Helps reconcile sick and vacation balances for unionised team members as required.Monitors, audits and reconciles report totals and balances throughout the payroll related processing cycle to ensure accuracy.Assists the Payroll Manager on projects, audits and special requests from internal and external clients.Investigates data discrepancies/ errors and resolves them as required.Helps respond to inquiries from the Finance team around payroll accounting.Helps prepare annual returns for review by the payroll manager as required (T4, T4A’s, Releve1, EHT, WCB).Provides back up for payroll specialists as needed including being able to process payroll from end to end.ComplianceMonitors federal and provincial legislation updates to help ensure accuracy of the payroll.Continuous ImprovementAssists in and leads some of payroll projects and or initiatives with the overall goal of process improvement.Assists Payroll manager to refine processes around customer service.Seeks opportunities to improve/enhance payroll processes and delivery, provides insights and recommends solutions to Payroll Manager.ReportingHelps with the quarterly balancing report and any monthly reports that are needed.Coaching, MentoringProvides guidance and prioritization for payroll activities to the payroll team, as required.Supervises the payroll process to help ensure the accurate administration, remittance and reporting of payroll related activities in compliance with relevant regulations and policies.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLSAt least 5 years hands on experience in end-to-end payroll operations.Experience with year-end processes is required.Strong understanding of payroll policies and processes.Strong analytical skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office with demonstrable expertise in Excel.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Good organizational skills, time management, prioritizing, and able to work with deadlines.Knowledge and or experience of ADP GlobalView is an asset.Ability to work flexible hours.Licenses and/or Professional AccreditationCPM certificate is preferred with a PCP certificate being the minimum requirement.Membership of the National Payroll Institute is required.At BGIS we believe that diversity and inclusion is a key business driver, such that we never lose sight of its importance as it is woven into the fabric of our organization.
