Join to apply for the Psychiatry role at Health Match BC. Role and Facility Information Williams Lake is in BC’s Central Interior Region, otherwise known as the Cariboo Chilcotin Region. It is famous for the annual Williams Lake Stampede and has a population of approximately 35,000, with a total population of 62,000 for the Cariboo Regional District. The area features lakes, rivers, hiking and biking trails, and offers outdoor activities throughout the year, including snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding, and ice fishing. Cariboo Memorial (CMH) is a Level 2 Community Hospital in Williams Lake with 28 inpatient beds. CMH offers ER, OR, Med-Surg, and Obstetrical units, as well as lab, diagnostic imaging, and an outpatient Hemodialysis Unit. The redevelopment project will add 25 inpatient beds for a total of 53, a new emergency department, and a mental‑health unit. The project, completing in 2026, will also add an 8‑bed inpatient psychiatry unit. This is a new position that allows you to tailor your practice to your specific interests. Your income will be primarily fee‑for‑service, with some group sessions available and no overhead. You will have an office in the mental health facility managed by Interior Health, working with social workers, therapists, and outreach nurses. Primary shared goals include meeting community needs through innovative integrated care models, collaborating with family practitioners to develop a patient medical‑home model aligned with the IHA Mental Health and Substance Use Program, and providing urgent support to the Cariboo Memorial Hospital’s ER and the Gateway Crisis Stabilisation Unit. Opportunities exist to work with Indigenous populations and to provide tele‑psychiatry support from psychiatrists located in Kamloops. We welcome participation in quality improvement projects, program development activities, and community education. Remote Australian community service via telehealth and UBC teaching opportunities through the UBC Department of Psychiatry are also possible. Leadership Development Opportunities are available through Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Program, designed for emerging medical leaders to develop leadership skills early in their careers. Compensation Compensation Type: Combination. Estimated Remuneration: TBD. Benefits and Incentives Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) may provide additional remuneration including a Retention Premium of 12.32%, a Retention Flat Fee of $19,092, and relocation funding ranging from $9,000 to $15,000 based on move location. Recruitment Incentive: $15,000. RCME support up to $6,600 after 4 years. Incentives are subject to change; rates are confirmed at time of offer.
