POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position will be part of the Distribution Centre and Transportation team which has responsibility for the processing of inbound and outbound shipments across the country. The dispatch Controller will report to the dispatch Assistant Manager, and work closely with both our Transportation team and our Distribution team to ensure inbound and outbound product flows efficiently in and out of the Distribution Centre, off-site yards and the main yard.

Duties include the following:

  • Maximize dock door utilization and line load opportunities
  • Scanning, Invoices and BOL creation on WMS
  • Maintain accuracy of Yard Management
  • Communicate with Yard Shunters, Security Staff, Carriers and Operations to enhance dock efficiency
  • Resolve yard discrepancies. Proactively communicate with Warehouse Team and other departments for issue resolution and process improvements.
  • Must be able to create/provide Excel spreadsheets to report key operational metrics, plus perform administrative tasks and other duties as assigned by the Yard manager.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while multi-tasking
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Computer’s skill is a must
  • Safety-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must be flexible in working hours – overtime, vacation coverage, and off-shifts

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Good to have inventory control or dispatcher experience.
  • Familiar and able to work with computers.
  • Prior experience in dispatching
  • Must have accounting experience with doing payroll, invoicing, experience in excel
  • Good understanding of MS software (Outlook, Word, PPT & Excel).
