Transportation Analyst Apply to the Transportation Analyst role at Maple Leaf Foods Inc. Opportunity The Transportation Analyst provides analytical and statistical reporting support for Maple Leaf Foods' transportation activities. Responsibilities include monthly KPI reporting, variance analysis, scorecard maintenance, carrier selection, negotiation, performance measurement, and cost‑saving projects. Working closely with transportation leaders, the role recommends freight and distribution alternatives to optimize efficiency while maintaining customer service levels. Snapshot of a Day‑in‑the‑Life Analyze and secure transportation capacity across the Maple Leaf Foods network. Understand the transportation network to identify cost savings and efficiencies. Monitor and track carrier performance to ensure service KPIs are met. Conduct periodic meetings with the Transportation Planning team and stakeholders to address variances and opportunities. Set up and facilitate regular business review meetings with primary carriers. Collaborate with leadership on the development and execution of RFPs/RFQs for third‑party carriers. Manage and follow up on carrier claims, coordinating with QA and relevant departments. Assist in developing and maintaining third‑party carrier SOPs and guides. Provide analytical support during the budgeting cycle. Conduct monthly variance and trend analysis. Support cost‑saving projects and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide temporary coverage for other analyst roles as needed. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of KPIs and scorecards. Maintain an accurate freight rate database. Foster collaborative relationships with distribution teams and third‑party service providers. Recommend and support continuous process improvements. What You’ll Bring Strong knowledge of distribution, transportation, and freight costing. 3–5 years of logistics experience, including warehouse and transportation, in a large organization with multiple profit centers. Knowledge of US freight customs and USDA border‑cross processes is an asset. Professional designation, e.g., CITT, P.Log, or related courses, is an asset. Strong team‑player with excellent oral and written communication skills. Alignment with Maple Leaf Values. Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to provide insight. Strong problem‑solving, prioritization, and organization skills, managing multiple projects on strict timelines. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Strong interpersonal skills for networking across the organization. Excellent Microsoft Excel skills. Knowledge of SAP, BEX, and BI is an asset.
