This position will also be tasked with system update testing, grant/program applications, analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts and performing a variety of supporting accounting duties.This position will be cross trained to support our Payroll department.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Perform weekly bank reconciliations.Conduct weekly account reconciliations.Perform weekly system health check reports and corrections.Execute month-end process and procedures including prepaid expenses, accrued receivables, accrued liabilities and other asset and liability accounts.Internal control review and fraud preventative controls.Monthly camp software reconciliation.Monthly filing of GST.Collaborate with Payroll team to conduct full-cycle payroll, as needed.Research accounting discrepancies, determine most appropriate methods to correct discrepancies and prepare corrections.Provide support to the Accounts Payable team, as needed.Provide support to Customer Service team, as needed.Conduct ongoing updates to training manuals and programs.Provide year-end audit support.Other duties as assigned.Special Projects as needed (e.g. Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements)QualificationsEducation and Experience:Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business or Accounting/Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum 3 years of experience in full cycle accounting and payroll.Experience with audit reporting requirements and year end working papers.Experience working for a Municipality, considered an asset.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements.Knowledge of payroll law, legislation and mandates.High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate tactfully, clearly, and effectively.Effective problem solving and customer service skills.Strong attention to detail and organization skills.Ability to work as part of a team, cross-train and remain flexible within a changing work environment.High degree of discretion, sound judgement and professionalism.Ability to ensure all work-related information is kept confidential as per policy.Ability to adapt to and learn new software.Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.Additional InformationWhat We Offer: The County of Grande Prairie provides a competitive compensation package, including benefits, LAPP pension and vacation. We actively support professional development opportunities and foster an engaging work environment.Working Hours: This position entails a 35-hour work week.
