NERC CIP Project Manager

NERC CIP Project Manager Role Summary: Leidos is seeking an experienced NERC CIP Project Manager to support large-scale information technology initiatives within the Utility Technologies Solutions team. This role is focused on preparing for and overseeing a NERC CIP audit for a major electric utility client. The Project Manager will drive execution, ensure audit readiness, track CIP evidence, and deliver projects in alignment with organizational standards while serving as a primary customer interface. The client is based in New Jersey. The role is remote, with the requirement to travel to the NJ area once per month as needed. Key Responsibilities Lead and direct project team personnel, managing cost, schedule, scope, and contract compliance. Serve as the primary customer interface and provide proactive project leadership. Prepare for and oversee a NERC CIP audit, including tracking CIP evidence responses and ensuring audit readiness. Manage technical scope, cost, and schedule for assigned project tasks and deliverables. Lead multidisciplinary project teams, including executives, line-of-business subject matter experts, controllers, schedulers, and vendors. Manage project teams that include multiple vendors with both onshore and offshore resources. Develop project management plans, set expectations, execute governance reviews, and ensure adherence to organizational and PMO procedures. Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, goals, and deliverables. Ensure requirements are gathered, documented, reviewed, and approved in accordance with organizational and PMO standards. Partner with assigned schedulers to create work breakdown structures defining all required project activities. Manage project budgets, maintain financial plans, track actuals versus plan, provide monthly forecasts, and report monthly accruals. Produce and deliver high-quality written and verbal project communications, including weekly status reports, dashboards, and executive updates. Actively monitor and manage project tasks, timelines, milestone achievement, and overall quality of deliverables. Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection and security guidelines. Required Technical Skills Demonstrated experience managing security-focused projects. Proven experience leading, executing, and documenting at least one NERC CIP audit at a major U.S. utility company. Solid understanding of Project Management and Project Management Office (PMO) processes and procedures. Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, or similar project management tools. Strong ability to manage project schedules and costs, including written status reporting and development of project materials. Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills PMP certification or equivalent (preferred). Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field with 8+ years of experience as an IT Project Manager. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 5+ years of experience managing security projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communication with senior to executive-level management. Strong customer-facing skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships, partnerships, and external networks. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively within a team environment. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and decision-making abilities. Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving capabilities.
