Headquartered in Toronto, the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is responsible for investing in new infrastructure projects. The CIB’s mission is to work with provincial, territorial, municipal, federal, Indigenous and private sector investor partners to transform the way infrastructure is planned, financed and delivered in Canada.

Working with the Indigenous investments team and reporting to the Managing Director, Indigenous and Northern Investments, the Director, Investments is an active member of the CIB’s investments team and is involved in all aspects of screening, due diligence, and execution of investment opportunities in projects in partnership with, and for the benefit of First Nation, Metis and Inuit communities.

Daily responsibilities will vary with time and include business development, understanding market fundamentals including but not limited to screening potential investment opportunities, performing complex financial modelling, completing sector analysis and transaction due diligence, drafting of investment memoranda, and participating in investment decision-making processes.

Your responsibilities include
  • Assist in developing a pipeline of potential investment opportunities by establishing and maintaining a network of contacts with Indigenous communities, and the public and private sectors across Canada and the infrastructure industry.
  • Conduct market research on pricing regimes, forecasts and their impact.
  • Lead due diligence on investment opportunities.
  • Lead the execution of financial models, project finance/infrastructure models, valuation analyses, and any additional needed financial analyses.
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of proposals and pitchbooks.
  • Source and evaluate potential investment opportunities.
  • Ad hoc responsibilities consistent with a growing and evolving function.
The ideal profile
  • 10 plus years of relevant investing experience.
  • A University undergraduate Degree in a related field (Finance, Engineering, Accounting, or Science).
  • Completion of a Master’s degree in Business or Finance, or a CFA or CPA designation is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience with capital structuring at the corporate or project level, and leading all aspects of the transaction cycle (such as client and stakeholder negotiations, influencing stakeholders and managing legal and technical consultants).
  • Preference will be given to those with direct experience related to infrastructure investments with and for the benefit of Indigenous communities.
  • Being a member of an Indigenous community is highly beneficial in this role.
  • Experience with government agencies is an asset.
  • Self-starter with strong project management skills, relationship building skills, leadership skills.
  • Highly collaborative team player.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual (French and English) written and verbal is considered an asset.
