Our Transportation Group is growing and consists of over 100 multi-disciplined staff that are involved in the planning and design of roads and bridges for Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (TEC), municipalities across the province, railway owners, and many projects beyond our provincial borders as we manage an exciting portfolio of North of 60 projects and support projects across the country. These projects encompass the entire life of the structure – from feasibility studies through detailed design, Technical Advisory Services and construction oversight. Are you excited and passionate about this interesting and challenging field of engineering?Your Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Alberta Bridge Team Leader, you will lead the team of professionals planning and designing bridges and other transportation structures in various pedestrian, highway, transit, and rail projects. You will be responsible for:Assuming leadership of the Alberta Bridge Team, including supervising engineers, designers, and technical support staff, addressing staffing needs and issues, responding to proposal calls, and developing business and growth plansManaging the bridge tasks of multi-discipline projects, including developing structure rehabilitation or replacement strategies, completing structural analysis, design for a variety of transportation structures, cost estimating, and preparing contract documents and reportsPreparing and presenting information to clients and the publicRegular collaboration with colleagues in our multi-disciplined design officeRecruiting and mentoring junior bridge engineers and bridge technologistsFinancial management of projects, including budgeting, resource allocation, and invoicingYour Capabilities and CredentialsExperience and relationships with several bridge owners, including TEC, City of Edmonton and City of CalgaryExtensive knowledge of relevant bridge design codes, particularly CHBDCGood knowledge of TEC bridge design criteria, specifications, practice manuals, standards and policiesExtensive experience as lead engineer on a variety of bridge design assignments, with responsibility for assessing repair/replacement and new design strategiesExperience with structural analysis software such as SAP2000/CSiBridgeProven experience in non-routine inspections and emergency response, and developing strategies for urgently deficient structuresDemonstrated experience with innovative bridge technologies, including ABCProficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to lead individuals on project assignments in a team environmentMulti-disciplinary project management experience is considered an assetEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil / Structural EngineeringMaster’s degree in Structural Engineering is considered an assetRegistered as a Professional Engineer with APEGAMinimum 10 years of relevant technical work experienceSupervisory and business development experience are considered an assetWhile Stantec offers hybrid work options, this position will primarily work in an office setting and may require some travel and field work.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other's talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us.
