**ABOUT US**
**We have moved and are ready to expand our team** We are looking for a dynamic **Crisis Team Lead **to make a direct and positive impact on the lives of vulnerable women and children, and to lead the Crisis Team and support management during CAWES’ growth.
The Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter (CAWES) is a not-for-profit organization that provides support to women and children fleeing domestic violence. Beyond being a 40-bed emergency shelter, CAWES provides crisis intervention, safety planning, case management, outreach services, domestic violence court support, and child support services. The new shelter, which is due for completion in 2025, will include 50 emergency beds and 40 secure transitional housing units.
CAWES is governed by CUPE Local 417.
**CRISIS TEAM LEAD JOB SUMMARY**
The Crisis Team Leads support women and children accessing residential supports from CAWES. Team Leads possess comprehensive knowledge related to intimate partner violence, risk assessment, safety planning, intersectionality, and harm reduction. They possess a client-centered perspective, demonstrate a respect for self-determination, and support the implementation of case management to assist in the development of healthy coping strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be a resource to front-line staff, proactively identify areas of concern and provide direction and feedback for improvement.
- Review crisis calls, shift change notes, and case notes to remain up-to-date on client files and high-risk information.
- Support Management in maintenance of best practices and ensure shelter practices adhere to the Collective Agreement.
- Aid Crisis Team with telephone, walk-in, and in-shelter clients.
- Proven ability to support, mentor, and supervise front-line staff
- Resolve conflict and de-escalate volatile situations
- Communicate in a clear and concise manner, both internally and with external partners
- Assist Program Manager in creation of staff schedules that adhere to Collective Agreement
- Support Management in execution of shelter mandates
- Use expertise to develop, implement, and ensure compliance with policies and processes
- Provide orientation and training to new hires
- Support clients based on trauma-informed practices
- Assess client files for risk-related components; identify high-risk files and strategize with community partners to reduce risk
- Review crisis calls and client case notes to identify risk factors
- Ensure adherence to OH&S legislation and internal safety rules and regulations
- Prioritize the dignity, respect, and confidentiality of all clients
Qualifications:
- Relevant post-secondary education
- Minimum 5 years’ experience providing front line service in human services sector
- Minimum 2 years’ experience leading and mentoring front line workers and planning strategies to help them reach goals
- Formal training and experience in de-escalation of staff and or client conflicts
- Clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector, and Child Intervention Checks
- Experience working with local law enforcement
- Valid Standard First Aid / CPR Certification
- ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
- Jacqueline Campbell Danger Assessment certification or equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Above average experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Sharepoint
**Shift**:12-hour day shifts with on-call nights
**Wage**: $27.78/hour as per Collective Agreement
