Architectural Technologist

Building Science TechnologistBuilding Science GroupPeterborough, ONPinchin is seeking staff with knowledge of architectural and/or engineering fundamentals to join our Building Science team in our Peterborough offices.The successful candidate should have sound knowledge and understanding of building systems, including general knowledge of architectural features such as structure, building enclosures, mechanical and electrical systems, roofing systems, interior elements, and site features.A Day in the life of a Building Science Technologist at Pinchin:Conduct Building and Property Condition Assessments for due diligence and/or capital planning purposes in accordance with ASTM standards, UniFormat, and best construction practices at various client sites.Perform capital planning building condition assessments.Review and complete assessments of existing buildings and structures (roof assemblies, exterior cladding, balconies, fenestrations, parking structures) to determine design and remedial work options.Conduct invasive building assessments and testing (e.g., roof cut tests, water/leak tests).Carry out quantity take-offs and measurements during projects.Develop designs and specifications for restoration projects.Perform construction reviews to ensure quality standards and design requirements are met.Prepare written reports summarizing field data, interpreting results, and creating detailed AutoCAD drawings.Coordinate financial aspects of projects.Maintain QA/QC and health and safety protocols.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.What you bring to the Pinchin team:Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Science, or related field.Knowledge of Building Condition Assessments per ASTM E 2018-15 standards.Familiarity with UniFormat and asset management software is an asset.Experience in building construction or maintenance preferred.Knowledge of HVAC systems and building envelope assemblies preferred.Understanding of the Ontario Building Code.Ability to read technical specifications, drawings, and reports.Experience in writing technical reports is preferred.Proficiency with AutoCAD is preferred.Ability to safely transport and carry tools and PPE, including a 20-foot extension or folding ladder.Availability to travel; valid driver’s license, insurance, and personal vehicle required (expenses reimbursed).What Pinchin offers you:A challenging, rewarding leadership role with mentorship opportunities.Competitive salary, benefits, and extended group benefits.Membership in our internal Communities of Practice.Casual dress code.Profit sharing bonuses and RRSP matching.Flexible work environment supporting work-life balance.Professional development and recognition programs.Reimbursement for professional memberships and dues.Employee Referral Bonus Program.Corporate Discount Program.Check what Pinchin has to offer: Benefits (pinchin.com)If interested, please apply.
