This individual will ensure the organization remains compliant with all applicable laws while supporting strategic business initiatives.CARFAX Canada is more than just a data-driven company—we’re passionate about helping millions of Canadians make informed decisions when buying, selling, and maintaining vehicles.What We Value:Objective – Guided by facts, driven by results.Transparent – Clarity through open and honest communication.Customer Advocate – Putting the customer at the center of everything we do.Solutions Oriented – Turning challenges into opportunities.Integrity – Where honesty meets action.This Role Includes:Legal Compliance – Monitor and ensure adherence to all relevant legislation and regulations.Contract Management – Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, customer contracts, confidentiality agreements, and employment agreements.Privacy & Data Governance – Oversee compliance with privacy laws and data protection policies. Provide guidance on data governance strategies.Legal Advisory – Provide practical legal advice to internal teams, including HR, Sales, IT, and Operations. Train and support staff on legal matters.Risk Management – Identify, analyze, and mitigate legal risks by designing and implementing company policies and procedures.Litigation Management – Oversee and manage litigation and dispute resolution, working with external counsel as necessary.Legal Research & Documentation – Conduct thorough legal research and maintain standardized legal templates, forms, and policies.Employment Law – Advise on employment-related matters, workplace policies, and compliance with employment legislation.External Relationships – Communicate with and manage third-party bodies such as external counsel and auditors.Qualifications:Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Juris Doctor (JD), or equivalent from an accredited institution.Licensed to practice law in Ontario and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.8-10 years of experience, with at least 4 years in an in-house legal role.Strong knowledge of contract law, corporate law, intellectual property, employment law, regulatory compliance, and data privacy law within the data and technology industries.Excellent communication, negotiation, and drafting skills.Proficiency in legal research tools and databases.Experience in the technology and/or information industry is considered an asset.Our Dream Teammate Will Be:A proactive problem solver with a strategic mindset.Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.A strong communicator who can simplify complex legal matters.Adept at working cross-functionally with different teams.Solutions-driven, adaptable, and resourceful in a fast-paced environment.Location & Work Setup:Location: London, OntarioHybrid Work: In-office with up to 8 work-from-home days per monthPerks of Working at CARFAX Canada:4-day summer work weeksWeekly catered lunchesCompetitive salary & benefitsCompany-matched pension planParental leave top-up benefitsPaid volunteer daysWellness funding & professional development opportunitiesCARFAX Canada is an equal-opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
