AddictionsWorker – Withdrawal Management Unit Addictions workers provide individual and group counselling, briefassessments, and treatment planning to persons with substance use concerns.Addictions workers operative within a multidisciplinary team on an inpatientaddictions treatment unit. PositionResponsibilities Workingwith nursing in ensuring that admission and discharge procedures, includingsearch of clothing and personal effects, are carried out according to Ontarioprovincial standards for Withdrawal Management Services. Provideindividual and group care, including but not limited to crisis management,counseling, and referral to local and provincial agencies. Worksin collaboration and consultation with our medical staff and other members ofthe inter-professional health care team to meet the needs of our clients. Facilitatesadherence to a daily programming schedule for patients admitted to theinpatient addictions program. Documentassessments, intervention plans, progress notes and outcomes in a timelymanner. Practicefrom a harm reduction approach and provide health teaching to clients, familiesand/or significant others on typical recovery and lifestyle issues throughoutall stages of recovery. Participatein program development at the local and regional level. Capturerelevant and required data as defined by the Ontario Health, HQO, Accreditationor other quality improvement strategies. Alignimprovement projects with the organization and monitor or adjust to achievegreater outcomes. Educateand promote health, safety and wellness in the workplace. Evaluateservices and satisfaction on an on-going basis and formulate improvementstrategies and solutions. Maintainsgood relationships with staff and residents; encourages support and carebetween residents; relates in a non-judgmental, caring, inclusive and welcomingway with residents. Performother duties as required . PositionQualifications Post-secondarydegree or diploma in social services and/or related field. Registeredand in good standing with relevant college. Minimumof 2 years’ experience and knowledge of addictions related care (i.e.withdrawal symptoms, withdrawal management and medication treatment available). Experiencein providing programs to individual and group settings. Experiencein program development and education. Demonstratedhealth care knowledge of substance use disorders. Demonstratedknowledge of evidence-based practices of recovery principles and traumainformed care. Demonstratedknowledge of how to apply harm reduction approach to recovery. Understandingand knowledge of the recovery-oriented approach. Demonstratedexperience dealing with clients who have poor distress tolerance and emotionregulation challenges. Demonstratedability to work with digital technology. Demonstratedcritical thinking skills. Effectivetime management and ability to prioritize workload.
