We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team and contribute expertise to a diverse group of professionals. Purpose The Geotechnical Engineer reports directly to the Geotechnical and Mining Practice Lead, collaborating with subject‑matter experts to consult clients; conduct examinations, testing, analysis; and prepare clear, concise, professional engineering reports and findings. Role Responsibilities Provide services in geotechnical investigations, projects, and tasks, including desk studies and field investigations. Support senior staff in business development and market growth opportunities. Investigate geotechnical, mining, and heavy civil infrastructure failures. Participate in multidisciplinary investigations with experts from other disciplines. Perform site examinations related to loss/failure. Communicate investigation and analysis findings to clients and in boardrooms, mediations, and trials. Review plans and specifications to ensure compliance with guidelines, codes, and regulations. Prepare field investigation plans, supervise drilling and field testing (CPT, SPT, etc.), identify and classify soils, and prepare borehole logs. Perform engineering calculations and numerical analyses to identify causes and contributing factors to failures. Conduct construction risk assessments, reviewing design specifications, drawings, methods, schedules, and monitoring. Prepare technical reports based on thorough investigations and analysis. Manage projects according to client‑approved scopes, delivering high‑quality reports on time and within budget. Provide expert testimony in court. Develop and grow existing client base. Participate in industry events and seminars. Understand core values of the firm and the strategic plan. Perform additional duties as required. Requirements Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering. Minimum five years of post‑degree experience in a consulting engineering firm. Experience in geotechnical field investigations, testing, and laboratory methods. Registered or eligible for registration with the PEO. Sound knowledge of applying geotechnical engineering to problem solving. Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle. Willingness to travel to remote investigation sites. Excellent technical writing skills. Strong client communication skills. Good presentation skills. Proficiency in commercial geotechnical numerical analysis software (e.g., slope stability, pile foundation, settlements). Advanced modeling (Plaxis, FLAC) is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Competencies and Attributes Project management ability. Strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and multitask.
