Senior Specialist, Financial Risk Oversight (Capital Markets Risk) Permanent, full‑time, hybrid position located across Canada (Halifax, Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver). About The Role Join the Capital Markets Risk team and provide senior‑level oversight of financial risk management to support CMHC’s strategic objectives. You will monitor and report on enterprise‑wide financial risks related to Capital Investments, Market, Liquidity, Counterparty Credit, Mortgage Loan Insurance, Housing Programs, and Securitization. What You’ll Do Conduct independent oversight of CMHC’s financial risk management and risk control activities. Serve as a subject‑matter expert to identify, assess, measure, monitor, and report on key financial risks. Apply quantitative and qualitative assessment techniques such as financial statement analysis, internal data analysis, and risk policy compliance. Use tools, models, and analytics to assess risk exposure relative to risk appetite and build forward‑looking capabilities. Provide guidance to business lines on risk management frameworks and policies. Influence strategic direction and policy setting using analytics and risk assessment results. Remain current on regulatory guidance and industry best practices. Identify emerging issues and trends to develop innovative solutions and present to senior management. What You Should Have Postgraduate degree in finance, accounting, or business management. Five (5) years of experience in capital markets and financial risk oversight or related experience. Demonstrated knowledge of risk management practices. Expertise in investments, capital markets, credit risk, liquidity management, and financial instruments. Superior communication and presentation skills for complex concepts. Analytical skills to support problem‑solving and decision‑making. It Would Be Great If You Also Had Professional designation or certification in risk management or financial analysis (e.g., CFA, CPMR, FRM, CPA). Experience developing stochastic projections and forward‑looking risk capabilities. Experience in data analytics and risk reporting using Python or R.
