He’s responsible for the step-by-step development of new products, acting as an intermediary between customers and internal teams such as R&D, production, quality assurance, procurement, and production planning. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIESDesign ingredient blends for the food industry, with a particular focus on meat processing and vegetarian products (soy, gluten, etc.). Develop and design seasonings and trend concepts tailored to customer needs.
Conduct necessary tests for product development and improvement. Create and test seasonings in prototypes for all categories of meat (pork, beef, poultry, fish, seafood) as well as vegetarian products. Provide technical support to the sales, customer service, procurement, quality control, production departments, and customers to meet their needs and resolve issues. Prepare product prototypes and perform pilot lab tests to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of recipes.
Create ingredient lists for each new product and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Manage ongoing projects, respecting deadlines and maintaining regular communication with stakeholders. Record recipes in the computer system and make necessary adjustments when needed. Write reports detailing the tests conducted, their results, and any relevant information.
Identify and evaluate new ingredients and suppliers to improve products or processes. Ensure that samples sent to clients meet agreed-upon standards and requirements. Review recipes and ingredient lists for experimental products to ensure compliance. Assist the quality control department in resolving production issues, including weighing errors or the management of reworked products.
Ensure that all developed products comply with current regulations and customer requirements. Ensure that developed samples follow recipes and meet customer requirements in accordance with regulations. Ensure the dissemination of regulatory information and record it in a centralized file for continuous regulatory monitoring. Adhere to SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards related to food safety and ensure their implementation.
Perform any other tasks related to the position as required by the company's specific needs. Bachelor’s degree in food science and technology or a related field. Knowledge of ingredients and meat processing techniques considered an asset. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the food industry and product development.
Exceptional creativity and the ability to think innovatively. Project management and leadership skills, with experience working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Ability to take initiative, good judgment, and strong critical thinking skills. Excellent organizational skills, with great attention to detail and precision.
Ability to work closely with various teams. High level of autonomy and a keen sense of prioritization. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while respecting priorities. Versatility and proactivity in facing challenges.
