ROLE The Registered Technologist (Medical Imaging) is responsible for the safe, effective and efficient performance of a variety of procedures. The MRT will use independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the application of ionizing radiation. He/she will work together with the Senior Technologist, Interventional Radiology and Student Coordinator regarding supervision and evaluation of student technologists. REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S) Graduate of an accredited Radiological Technology program Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario. Current CPR certification REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S) Maintaining an effective working relationship with patients, physicians, hospital staff and the public. Demonstrated commitment to his/her ongoing professional development and continuing education (i.e. awareness of one’s own personal/professional education needs, and self‑initiation of actions to meet those needs) Demonstrated ability to act quickly and effectively when dealing with emergencies with patients and staff Able to exercise courtesy and understanding in dealing with patients, medical personnel, visitors, other staff and members of other departments. Able to recognize and react appropriately, both mentally and physically, to emergent/critical situations, incidents and adverse reactions. This would encompass following Hospital/Departmental policies & procedures, maintaining a calm and professional composure and assuming a leadership role when required to support staff. Able to react to unpredictable situations with critically/acutely ill patients having physical limitations, to ensure patient safety.
