As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), you will champion an inclusive leadership style that values equity, diversity, and inclusion, while ensuring psychological and physical safety. In this role, you will: Provide visionary leadership and overall management for the Development, Business and Building Services business unit, ensuring program integrity, sound decision-making, operational efficiency, and exceptional customer service through innovative practices and technology-driven solutions. Cultivate strategic relationships and partnerships with Council, Committees of Council, the Executive Leadership Team, industry leaders, and community representatives. Represent the City at Council presentations, committee meetings, public forums, and in media engagements. Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter authority when briefing Council and engaging with developers, industry professionals, and community leaders. Exercise executive oversight for building safety and compliance, ensuring the safe construction, use, and occupancy of buildings while supporting Calgary's development objectives. Ensure regulatory compliance and authoritative oversight for building design, construction, alterations, and demolitions in alignment with established standards and codes. Drive strategic integration of risk and opportunity into governance frameworks, business planning, investment strategies, and robust reporting and assurance processes. Champion cross-organizational collaboration to deliver integrated services that prioritize the needs of customers, citizens, and the broader community. Qualifications A degree in a related field with at least 10 years of progressively responsible senior leadership experience in building and development, including managing complex organizations with diverse operations and multiple partners. Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered. A Master of Business Administration or a related field will be considered an asset. Knowledge of current trends, innovations, and best practices in building and development is required. Safety Codes Officer Certification(s) will be considered an asset. You will have a practical, solutions-focused leadership style with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. You have a strong reputation for political and organizational sensitivity and are driven by a dedication to serving the citizens of Calgary.
