With opportunities for training, development, and advancement, you’re not just building a career—you’re part of something bigger.Position responsibilitiesReview and approve utility crossings while administering permits and agreementsCarry out site inspections to ensure installations meet regulatory compliance and safety standardsTask a CPKC Engineering service provider to supervise geotechnical installations and collaborate on pre-construction planningServe as primary contact for emergencies related to utility installation, property access, utility-related incidents such as watermain breaks and gas leaksDeliver rotating emergency on-call support to maintain uninterrupted operational coverage across the networkManage right-of-entry permits and issue agreements for surveying, geotechnical investigations, and heavy equipment use within railway right-of-wayMaintain customer accounts and billing data in SAP including updates and coding for invoicingRespond promptly to applicant inquiries and coordinate with Legal and Risk Management to ensure compliance with all insurance and permitting requirementsScreen, manage, and prioritize third-party utility requests received through the Utilities_RequestsCanada@CPKCR.com portalPosition requirementsCivil Engineer Technician or equivalent engineering diploma credentialsMinimum of three (3) years’ experience in utilities management; preference given to candidates with background in gas, hydro, or telecommunications sectorsValid driver’s license requiredValid passport and ability to travel freely between the U.S. and CanadaFluency in both English and French, with strong oral and written communication skillsProven planning, organizational, and negotiation abilitiesSelf-motivated, adaptable, and capable of excelling in a fast-paced environment with effective multitasking skillsProficient in SAP, Excel, AutoCAD, and other relevant computer applicationsWhat CPKC has to offerFlexible and competitive benefits packageCompetitive company pension and/or retirement plansEmployee share purchase planPerformance incentive planAnnual fitness subsidyPart-time studies programPre-employment requirementsMedical and Drug Testing This is a safety critical/safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required.
