Lead Hand, Mine Maintenance The Lead Hand provides frontline leadership and technical support for mobile maintenance activities at the mine site. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance of heavy mobile equipment while coordinating daily tasks and supporting team development. Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties Area 1: Maintenance Operations Maintenance operations. Oversee maintenance and repair of mobile equipment (haul trucks, loaders, drills, etc.). Perform troubleshooting and assist technicians with complex repairs. Ensure adherence to maintenance schedules, procedures, and quality standards. Monitor work order completion and ensure timely updates in the maintenance system. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in maintenance activities. Area 2: Leadership and Coordination Leadership and coordination. Assign daily tasks and monitor progress to meet operational goals. Act as the primary liaison between maintenance crew and supervisors. Mentor team members, promote continuous improvement, and support training initiatives. Promote a positive work culture focused on collaboration and accountability. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents Post‑secondary education in Heavy Equipment Maintenance, Mechanical Trades, or related field. Trade certification (e.g., Heavy Equipment Technician, Millwright) preferred. Work Experience – Nature & Length Minimum 5 years of experience in mobile equipment maintenance within a mining or heavy industrial environment. At least 1 year in a leadership or senior technician role, demonstrating ability to coordinate tasks and mentor team members. Proven experience with troubleshooting and repair of large mobile equipment (haul trucks, loaders, drills, etc.). Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and work order processes.
