HEALTH MARKETING SPECIALIST – City of Toronto, Public Health, Communications. Location: UNION STATION 65 Front Street West (Hybrid). Job Type: Full‑time, Temporary Vacancy, 18 months. Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week. Hourly Rate: $47.80–$52.39. Position No. 1. Posting Period: Nov. 28, 2025 to Dec. 12, 2025. Responsibilities Develop communication strategies and tools to influence positive community health and lifestyle outcomes. Provide guidance and advice to program managers on effective communication strategies. Conduct risk assessments for all communication initiatives and recommend risk mitigation tactics. Control all aspects of the campaign/portfolio, monitoring progress and ensuring critical timelines are met. Ensure all communication, marketing and promotional initiatives meet accessibility and equity standards. Work closely with program managers and staff to design innovative marketing strategies. Keep clients informed of project status, milestones and issues. Translate complex public health data and information into plain language for target audiences. Ensure all campaign/portfolio components are delivered on schedule and on budget. Develop innovative content for online and traditional media. Deliver communication products strategically and effectively. Collaborate with external marketing agencies where applicable. Maintain knowledge of current industry best practices and new techniques in health marketing and communications. Protect and enhance the Toronto Public Health brand. Conduct thorough evaluations of campaigns to assess effectiveness, provide insights and support evidence‑based decision‑making. Key Qualifications Baccalaureate degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Considerable experience in marketing and/or strategic communications. Considerable experience preparing effective communication strategies that support organizational goals. Considerable experience with traditional and social media best practices. Considerable experience developing a variety of communication materials that engage diverse audiences. Considerable experience managing large communication projects or social marketing campaigns. You Must Also Have Excellent writing, verbal and editing skills. Knowledge of industry best practices, accessible and inclusive communications. Excellent organizational, time management, analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to perform research and evaluate campaigns for evidence‑based decision‑making. Ability to interpret complex concepts and translate information into plain language.
