About the Future Skills Centre The Future Skills Centre–Centre des Compétences futures (FSC‑CCF)–is a forward‑thinking centre for research and collaboration dedicated to driving innovation in skills development so that everyone in Canada can be prepared for the future of work. We partner with policymakers, researchers, practitioners, employers and labour and post‑secondary institutions to solve pressing labour‑market challenges and ensure that everyone can benefit from relevant lifelong learning opportunities. The centre’s work focuses on solutions to help address the needs of equity‑deserving groups, particularly women, youth, Indigenous people, newcomers, racialised people, people with disabilities, veterans, and people from rural, remote and Northern communities. At the Future Skills Centre (FSC), we’re building a more adaptive, equitable, and resilient future of work and we’re seeking a Research & Evaluation Associate to help drive that vision forward. In this role, you’ll work closely with consortium partners on qualitative and quantitative research, conduct complex analyses, and lead engagements to inform FSC’s strategies, pilot projects and recommendations to government and key partners. You’ll collaborate with the Associate Director, Research, Evaluation and Knowledge Mobilization (REKM), team members and consortium partners to design learning initiatives, develop communications that amplify our impact, and strengthen relationships with stakeholders and research partners. Your analytical acumen and collaborative spirit will help shape evidence‑based approaches that ensure every worker and learner can thrive in Canada’s evolving economy. Qualifications Completion of a Master’s degree in political science, public policy, business administration, economics, sociology, anthropology, or a related field. Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the public sector, not‑for‑profit organization or academic institution, including experience engaging and interacting with research and policy officials to understand their priorities, collect information and support knowledge‑related mandates. Experience designing and executing qualitative and quantitative research, performing complex analysis and writing compelling research documents. Experience leading research‑ and/or evaluation‑based projects. Knowledge of key issues relating to skills and workforce development, labour‑market trends and Canada’s education and employment systems. Superior knowledge of analytical techniques to review, synthesize and conduct in‑depth analysis of complex information, complete statistical and data analysis. Superior knowledge of research and evaluation methodologies with familiarity with diverse evaluative approaches/tools (e.g., landscape scans, case study, literature reviews, consultations) to gather broad research. Political acuity and ability to successfully engage with senior research and government officials on policy implications and other sensitive matters to help shape FSC’s research and policy agenda. Project management skills including planning, execution and closeout. Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education.
