We have lived and travelled around the world, we ski and snowboard, we camp and hike, we take up adventurous hobbies like bagpipe playing, we live in adventurous places like floathouses, some of us have joined the adventure of raising kids - and some of us have joined the equally adventurous world of raising pets...But the most adventurous thing we have all done recently is jump ship from the safety of corporate jobs to come together and become Vancouver Rivian and Volkswagen Group TechnologiesResponsibilitiesDesign and develop infotainment applications on Android Automotive OSCreate modular and scalable software that can adapt to a variety of different products and use casesCreate designs pattern and libraries to facilitate application developmentsCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including product and UI/UX design teams to define application featuresIdentify potential problems and resolve application bottlenecks for performance optimizationsPerform code reviews and practice continuous integration and developmentWrite test code to test for quality, robustness, and functional correctness, including edge casesDesign and implement subsequent application updates and releasesInvestigate AAOS codebase for better application performance and integrationDevelop sample and demo applications, making use of our technologyGrow your skills with continual learning, workshops, conferences, and talksQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering (MS preferred)Proven Android application developer with 8+ years of experienceProficiency in Kotlin, Java, and C++Ability to manage your workload with minimal supervisionProficiency in using Android and Android Jetpack APIs, including knowledge of Android NDK and JNIKnowledge of Android design principles and application interface guidelinesKnowledge of Android’s performance and testing frameworkFamiliarity with embedded Android framework servicesExperience with developing mapping, multimedia, and Bluetooth solutions is a plusFamiliarity with push notifications, APIs and cloud messagingExcellent coding and proofreading skillsFamiliarity with the best in class Software development practicesProficient in code versioning tools including Git, Gitlab and othersExperience with continuous integration tools, such as JenkinsFamiliarity with Agile Scrum practicesExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaboratively work with and influence cross-functional teamsTop-notch teamwork and communication skillsPay DisclosureSalary Range/Hourly Rate for British Columbia Based Applicants: 137,000 CAD - 170,000 CAD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).Benefits Summary: Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full-time employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment.
