Gibraltar produces an average of 130 million pounds of copper and 2.5 million pounds of molybdenum each year, with mineral reserves sufficient for more than 20 years of future operations.For more information visit our website www.tasekomines.com.Role OverviewGibraltar Mine is seeking a Superintendent, Tailings Management to provide operational and technical leadership for the site Tailings Storage Facility (TSF). This role is accountable for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation, monitoring, and ongoing development of the TSF, in alignment with regulatory approvals, and site-specific design criteria.The Superintendent will lead, instrumentation, inspections, and reporting, while working closely with the Engineer of Record (EoR), Mill Operations, and regulatory agencies. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong technical judgement, disciplined execution, and a visible commitment to safety and risk management.Core ResponsibilitiesAct as a courageous safety leader, promoting a strong safety culture across tailings operations and field activities.Provide day-to-day leadership for tailings deposition, water management, and dam safety activities.Ensure compliance with all permit conditions, HSRCBC requirements, CDA guidelines, and regulatory commitments related to the TSF.Oversee dam safety inspections, instrumentation monitoring, surveillance programs, and performance reporting.Coordinate and support the Engineer of Record, Independent Tailings Review Board (ITRB), and regulatory inspections.Manage tailings operational plans, OMS manuals, and emergency preparedness requirements.Provide technical guidance and operational targets to Mill Operations to ensure deposition aligns with design and capacity objectives.Lead, mentor, and develop tailings staff, technicians, and contractors.Support capital planning, construction activities, and continuous improvement initiatives related to tailings infrastructure.Education & ExperienceProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Civil, Geotechnical, Mining, or related discipline.Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in tailings or geotechnical roles within mining.Demonstrated experience with large TSFs, including operations, surveillance, and regulatory engagement.Strong understanding of CDA Tailings Guide, BC regulatory framework, and dam safety principles.Proven leadership capability in managing multidisciplinary teams and contractors.Skills & CompetenciesStrong technical judgement and risk-based decision-making ability.Clear and effective communicator with regulators, consultants, and site leadership.Highly organized with strong planning and execution skills.Commitment to environmental stewardship and continuous improvement.Proficient with technical reporting and standard engineering software tools.The CommunityWilliams Lake has a population of approximately 12,000 but services nearly 25,000 as it is a central hub for many outlying smaller communitiesAdult recreational leagues for many popular sports including hockey, soccer, and softballA fantastic trail network for mountain biking, walking, and hikingDozens of nearby lakes for fishing, paddling, and camping opportunitiesClose by cross country and downhill skiing venuesCompensationAt all Taseko locations, we pride ourselves in offering a challenging and rewarding work environment.
