Our Whitby Site specializes in commercial manufacturing for a full range of conventional dosage forms with specialized capabilities, and houses a fully integrated pharmaceutical development services (PDS) facility.

The Supervisor Packaging Set-up Operations will be reporting directly to the Manager,Equipment & Facility Maintenance. Responsible forsupervisinga team of set-up technicians operating through 24/5 operations and at times even 24/7. Implement, drive, sustain and evolve withindustry best practices tooptimizepackagingset-up durations to achieveoperationalRight-First-Time(RFT)andOn-Time Delivery (OTD).

Shift Schedule

Monday - Friday, 6 AM - 2:30 PM with flexibility to work other shifts and weekends based on business needs

Day in the Life

  • Maintain a safe working environment and report potential hazards.

  • Promote a safe working environment, report potentialhazardsand ensure all direct reports follow Environmental Health and Safety procedures.

  • Direct and supervise activitiesofSet Up Technicians. Ensure compliance with SafetyStandardsGMPs and SOPs,maintaininghigh standard of housekeeping.

  • Select,develop,and evaluate staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Work with andadvisestaff on administrative policies and procedures.

  • Develop andestablisha development program forskillsenhancement.

  • Evaluate individual and team performanceand provide feedback; coach and develop others.

  • Review,assessand streamline set-up operations.

  • Establishand createpoka-yoke philosophy for repeatable and consistent set-up procedures.

  • Create andmaintainan effectiveonboarding and ongoing training(cross training)program to align with today’s industrial technological advancements and best practices.

  • Reduce and/oreliminatewaste (i.e.time, materials, rework) through focuson RFT and support on-timeschedule.

  • Establish and sustain effective structure to support packaging operationsfor immediate attention on the line.

  • Determinebestpush-pull system to have efficient set-ups completedearly or on-schedule.

  • Report applicable KPIs back to manager.

  • Achieve and sustain EHS and Quality compliance score cards –i.e.assessments, training, deviations, corrective actions,etc..

  • Work collaboratively with Packaging team members–daily interactions with packaging leaders would be key.

  • Suggest and produce improvement opportunities; align withpackaging operations and planning to address accordingly.

Keys to Success

Education

College/Technical School diploma in related technical field required.

Bachelor of Engineering or Science or equivalent would be an asset.

Licensed tradesman in either of the following fields: Mechanical, Electrical would be an asset.

Certification in related field(i.e. CET) would be an asset.

Experience

Minimum5yearsin packaging mechanic/technician rolewithin pharmaceutical, food or cosmeticindustry– pharmaceutical preferred.

Leadershipand people managementexperiencepreferred.
