Morskate Manufacturing is actively recruiting a motivated 2nd/3rd Year Apprenticeship Welder to join our dynamic team of professionals. Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, you will be responsible for executing and supporting the day-to-day welding and fabrication work in the shop, ensuring production timelines, quality standards, and safety protocols are met. You’ll assist with material prep, layout, equipment operation, documentation, and troubleshooting during the fabrication of structural components, equipment, and custom metal assemblies. If you take pride in high-quality workmanship, have experience in welding or metal fabrication, and thrive in a fast-paced shop environment, we’d love to hear from you Responsibilities Maintain excellent attendance record Fabricate and/or repair equipment, structures and various types of metal products using an array of welding processes such as GMAW, GTAW and SMAW Analyze and interpret assembly drawings and sketches to determine measurements, layouts and sequence of welding steps Examine own welds and surfaces to discover flaws to ensure they meet the required standards Grind and finish parts to specification Adhere finished product identification and product finishing colored tag as per drawing Track finished product and job status via sign off on drawings and updates to master control list Accurate use of tape measure, square, levels, angle finder and other measuring tools related to specific area (in both Metric & Imperial) Operate drill presses, grinders, power saws and other hand tools Safe operation of overhead crane for material movement as required This job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties. You may perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. Requirements/Qualifications 2nd/3rd year apprentice welder Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, procedures and practices Knowledge of materials and strong understanding of metals Good with numbers in regards to accurate measurements, checking drawings, counting parts and weightsnTakes pride in final product and pays attention to details Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs. Able to work independently or as part of a team Ability to speak, read, write and understand English clearly Possess problem solving skills Health & Active participation in company safety program Follow safety protocol including wearing of required PPE and understanding and application of safety policies, procedures and practices What Morskate Manufacturing Offers Permanent, year-round employment Competitive wages Overtime after 8 hours a day / 44 hours a week Benefits after 3 months of employment 4% vacation pay plus statutory holiday pay Guaranteed every Sunday off We offer competitive starting wages beginning at $28-34 per hour, with final rates determined by your experience, skill level, and how well you align with the role.
