Job Summary This position is responsible for conducting research and analysis on health and health system policy, legislation, regulations and practice issues to support OMA advocacy initiatives; this includes working cross‑functionally and alongside physician members to build and drive policy recommendations. You Will Make a Difference By Conducting evidence‑based health policy research and analysis to support health system policy development and submission preparation, researching relevant health policy/system literature and jurisdictional reviews, analysing and synthesising relevant information/data and providing summaries for review. This includes monitoring emerging legislative, policy and political issues and health system trends and best practice, assessing impacts on health policy programmes and initiatives, and providing recommendations. Preparing policy products, discussion/background briefing materials on policy, practice, legislative and health system issues affecting the medical profession in Ontario for internal and external review, ensuring all pertinent information is gathered and incorporated, clarifying details, following up on outstanding information as required. Working cross‑functionally alongside the OMA’s physician members to understand health system issues and develop solutions, based on member experience and advice, and best practice globally. Contributing and participating in organisational initiatives to advance policy solutions (e.g., advocacy efforts, engagement with government and system partners). Staying informed on the Canadian health care landscape and ensuring policy narratives are innovative, compelling and inclusive to benefit physicians and patients across Ontario. The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office. Requirements That Are Important To Us Undergraduate Degree in Health Administration, Public Policy or equivalent required. Post‑graduate Degree preferred (e.g., Master’s in Health Administration, Public Policy, Public Health or law degree). 3 or more years relevant analytical and health policy experience; an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
