OverviewSenior Scientist – Directed Evolution & Protein Design, Large Molecule Discovery at Amgen. Location: Amgen British Columbia site.What You Will DoLead enzyme engineering efforts to discover novel therapeutics for rare and genetic diseases. Apply directed molecular evolution and rational design, including computational approaches. Develop quantitative structure–function relationships to enhance generative AI capabilities for enzyme and protein design. Implement computational design to predict and prevent immunogenicity of enzymes and other proteins. Contribute to the interface between protein design, enzyme engineering, target discovery, and experimental immunology.What We Expect Of YouWe are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients.Basic QualificationsPh.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical and/or Biological Engineering, Biophysics or a related field with 1-3 years industrial or postdoc experience with strong publication recordExperience in directed molecular evolution and high-throughput screening and characterizationExperience in enzyme library design and in silico protein designAbility to work independently while also collaborating with cross-functional teamsStrong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skillsSelf-driven, creative, and willingness to work on difficult and high impact problemsCommitment to diversity and equity while creating a welcoming and inclusive work environmentPreferred QualificationsUnderstanding of immune biology and immunogenicityStrong background in structural biology and biophysicsApplication of AI/ML models to protein design and engineeringWhat You Can Expect Of UsWe support your professional and personal growth and well-being.
