The Role We are working towards our decarbonized future through the collaborative and responsible development of critical minerals and are looking for an experienced professional to join our Sustainability Team. Reporting to the Vice-President, Environment the Director, Environment will manage the company’s environmental assessment and permitting workstreams, delivering high-quality technical studies and timely progression through regulatory review processes. The Director, Environment will manage consultants, field programs, and technical inputs to ensure environmental data collection and impact assessments support the defined project approvals process and optimal mine design.   Duties of the role include (but may not be limited to): · Environmental Assessment Delivery o Lead the execution of baseline studies, environmental impact assessments, and technical support documents for regulatory submissions including management of environmental consultants and field programs to collect data across key disciplines (water, wildlife, vegetation, air quality, cultural heritage, etc.). o Pro-actively identify and manage regulatory requirements and risks and work across disciplines including with engineering to integrate mitigation measures directly into project design such that environmental studies are comprehensive, defensible, and aligned with regulatory and First Nation expectations. o Work with the Indigenous and Community Affairs Team to such that environmental studies and project descriptions reflect community interests and Traditional Knowledge and where possible plans are developed collaboratively and synergistically · Permitting & Approval Process Support o Manage regulatory processes including the preparation and submission of regulatory documents for environmental permits and implementable approvals conditions including the environmental assessment. Track regulatory timelines and proactively address potential information gaps or review issues. o Develop efficient and effective regulatory processes to facilitate the integration of known Traditional Knowledge and First Nation decision making and strengthen assessment decision outcomes o Lead the development and implementation of the regulatory strategy and support the development and implementation of Government Relations and the Indigenous and Community Affairs Team · Indigenous & Stakeholder Collaboration o Include key First Nations communities and companies who can contribute to, and benefit from, the sharing of information and participate in Company environmental programs and initiatives. o Work with the Indigenous and Community Affairs team to support the collection and distribution of relevant technical and environmental information to community members and/or presentation at community events o Contribute to ESG and sustainability reporting by providing accurate, up-to-date environmental metrics including as required to investor relations and disclosures including climate adaptation and resiliency planning Candidate Profile · Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited university or college and a minimum of 12+ years’ experience in a relevant environment related field, · A demonstrated deep understanding of technical aspects of mining and associated disciplines including the environmental regulatory regime in BC and Canada as applicable to mining and mine development · Professional registration (e.g., P.Ag., R.P.Bio., PMP) or equivalent is an asset · Strong communication, analytical, critical thinking, and leadership skills, with ability to influence across senior levels of the business. · A commitment to develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with partners and all other stakeholders in both formal and informal settings · A strong commitment to workplace safety and ethics · Willingness and ability to travel both in Canada and overseas as required in achieving company objectives   We offer a competitive remuneration package commensurate with experience, consisting of base salary, stock options, and annual bonus.
