Overview The Logistics Operations Lead plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient flow of raw materials, components, and finished products within the manufacturing process. This role involves overseeing warehouse operations, transportation, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The Logistics Operations Lead collaborates closely with production, procurement, and distribution teams to optimize supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and support production schedules. Responsibilities Supervise daily logistics activities, including receiving, warehousing, inventory control, order picking, packing, and dispatch. Coordinate and schedule transportation to ensure timely delivery of raw materials to production lines and finished goods to customers. Oversee loading and unloading operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Monitor inventory levels and reconcile stock discrepancies through regular cycle counts and audits. Manage, train, and develop logistics staff, including warehouse workers, drivers, and inventory clerks. Assign tasks and monitor performance, providing feedback and coaching to improve productivity. Foster a safe and compliant work environment, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections. Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely replenishment of raw materials. Coordinate with production teams to align logistics activities with manufacturing schedules. Liaise with external logistics providers, freight forwarders, and carriers to negotiate rates and ensure service quality. Manage transportation documentation, customs clearance, and compliance with import/export regulations. Analyze logistics workflows and identify areas for process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Implement best practices for inventory management, transportation, and warehouse operations. Utilize logistics software and ERP systems to track shipments, inventory, and performance metrics. Prepare and maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory levels, transportation costs, and KPIs. Generate reports for manager on logistics performance, discrepancies, and improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental policies, and company standards. Optimize storage space utilization and organize warehouse layout for maximum efficiency. Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency. Create policies or procedures for logistics activities. Implement specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics. Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues. Monitor product import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements. Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery. Plan or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes. Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping. Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers. Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management. Analyze all aspects of company logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies. Direct or coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources. Communicate freight transportation information to customers or suppliers, using transportation management, electronic logistics marketplace, or electronic freight information systems, to improve efficiency, speed, or quality of transportation services. Conduct or review environmental audits for logistics activities, such as storage, distribution, or transportation. Experience, Education and Skill Requirements Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering or logistics. 5+ years logistics leadership experience. Experience working in a supply chain or logistics department. Displays effective organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills. Possesses excellent complex problem solving and decision-making abilities. Demonstrates strong active listening and reading comprehension skills. Has exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills. Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills. Possesses strong negotiation and persuasion abilities. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of computer systems and programs relevant to the industry (Epicor). Strategic thinker what does the customers need/want how do we get there. Proven leadership skills particularly in, creating possibilities, organizational change, consistently delivering great performance and managing people for success. Self-motivated and able to achieve high impact within a short time.
