The main entrance to the building is 19428 Nova Scotia Trunk 2, Amherst NS B4H 3Y4. Position Details Position: Full‑Time Security Guard Site: Cumberland Regional Hospital Hours: Rotational Shifts – 0700‑1900 / 1900‑0700 Payrate: $20.50 Key Responsibilities Patrol Hospital Grounds – conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site. Monitor Surveillance Systems – operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities. Access Control – monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to restricted areas. Respond to Emergencies – act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats; assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations. Provide Customer Service – greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff; provide directions and ensure guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures. Conflict Resolution – de‑escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure all interactions are handled calmly and professionally. Report Writing – document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately; complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns. Collaboration with Hospital Staff – work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved. Enforce Hospital Policies – ensure hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed; address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards. Prerequisites Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia Valid Standard First Aid & CPR – Level C (from a CSA‑approved vendor) COVID Vaccine – two doses Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and a two‑step TB skin test English (oral and written) fluency is a must Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred Must provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) Applicants lacking these certifications may opt into Paladin’s UOF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding to meet position requirements Paladin will cover all UOF/MOAB training costs with a 6‑month commitment to the position/availability Why choose Paladin?
