Human Resources Director

The Human Resources Director will be accountable for all aspects of Restaurant Human Resources Administration and Talent Acquisition for this growing and expanding up market restaurant group. This individual must be able to work collaboratively and build consensus within a great team environment. Must possess considerable knowledge of management-labor relations, the principles, practices, and human resources management procedures, ideally in the hospitality/restaurant industry.
You will be responsible for the total human resources and recruitment functions and support each restaurant operations management/hourly staff, including extending approved employment offer letters. Direct and oversee all recruitment activities and strategies for all positions. Follow the Company’s recruitment plans and all future hiring processes to attract outstanding long-term employees.
Job Responsibilities- Maintain consistent practices with company policy/procedures and help drive corporate HR initiatives.
- Collaborate daily with Operations, Finance, PR, and Development in preparation for new restaurant outlet openings.
- Set up and manage all company HR brand and image-related advertising for current open positions.
- Manage HR policies and procedures that support the Company’s goals, mission, and objectives.
- Collaborate with the executive team to craft the Company’s vision and mission.
- Assist senior management in the annual review, preparation, and administration of the Company’s wage and salary program.
- Facilitate any transfers and promotions within the restaurant organization.
- Develop processes and tools to measure the impact and value of HR initiatives to the organization.
- Assume responsibility for labor and employee relations.
- Work with the company executives to establish the company's short/long-term strategies.
- Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching employees.
- Ensure compliance for equal opportunity, and diversity with key policies.
- Support the management team by providing human resources advice and decisions related to the business.
- Work extensively with the corporate operations and restaurant management team.
- Interview and make recommendations for hiring all management-level employees, recommending viability of internal promotions or transfers.
5 to 8+ years of Human Resources management experience preferably in hospitality operations. Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated, enthusiastic with a “Can-do” attitude, proactive and resourceful. Handle a dynamic and busy work environment with competing priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Building positive working relationships with employees at all levels within the organization. Exercises sound judgment when making decisions. Should ideally have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, with preference given to those recruiting in the challenging hospitality industry. Must have expert knowledge in full-cycle recruitment, thorough pre-qualification screening, behavioral interviewing, and closing professional-level candidates across multiple levels and disciplines.
The base pay range for this senior head office role in downtown Toronto will be in the range of $90,000 per year with excellent company benefits and incentives for this progressive HR role in Toronto leading a growing restaurant group.
