Advanced Care Paramedic - Patient Coordinator Alberta Health Services is hiring an Advanced Care Paramedic - Patient Coordinator (PC) to work within the Mobile Integrated Healthcare- Coordination Center (MIHC). The PC will provide coordination and support to Community Paramedics, EMS crews, and regulated community healthcare providers, helping patients receive appropriate care and avoid acute care reliance. Your Opportunity The PC is a trained Community Paramedic (CP) who receives extra training to work within the MIHC. The PC will: Make informed decisions and use clinical judgment when interacting with EMS crews and other practitioners. Triage emergency situations from callers and transfer information to 911. Provide guidance and support to Community Paramedics, EMS crews, and regulated community healthcare providers. Be rotated 25-50% of the time through a dedicated Community Paramedic unit to maintain clinical competency and skills. Description As an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP), your core responsibilities include: Assess emergency scenes and patients; transport ill or injured patients from scenes and between facilities. Operate ambulances or other modes of transportation. Administer medications, advanced life support (ALS) airway adjuncts, and electrical therapy. Lead the ALS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes. Assist in ensuring ambulances and other EMS vehicles are properly stocked and equipped. Travel in all weather conditions to remote or hazardous locations as required. Physical demands include lifting and carrying up to 105 lbs, frequent kneeling and trunk flexion, and standing/sitting for extended periods in awkward positions. Required Qualifications Non-restricted registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACOP) as an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) CPR certification. Valid Class 4 Alberta Operator License or equivalent. Five (5) year driver abstract current within six (6) months with no more than six (6) demerits prior to commencing work. Successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test (certificate provided by Lifemark). Must be completed no more than six (6) months prior to application. Qualified to perform full operational duties as of the start date. Additional Required Qualifications Maintain clinical competencies within scope of practice as determined by AHS EMS. Ability to assist with patient transfers and support the lifting and movement of patients. Demonstrate satisfactory past work performance and relevant experience. Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills. Excellent multitasking ability with computer software and technology. Completion of an accredited Advanced Care Paramedic program. Preferred Qualifications Previous Community Paramedic experience. Previous Patient Coordinator experience. Experience in a community health or urgent care setting. Leadership experience.
