LAW: Estey Chair in Business Law Join to apply for the LAW: Estey Chair in Business Law role at University of Saskatchewan. The Estey Chair in Business Law was established in 2014 through the generosity of the Estey Family and the support of alumni and friends of the College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan. The Chair was created to honour the late Supreme Court of Canada Justice Willard “Bud” Estey. Previous holders include Rod Wood, Cally Jordan, Anna Lund, Virginia Torrie, and the current holder Michael Milani for a second term. Overview We invite applications from outstanding scholars and practitioners in business law, broadly defined as including domestic and international business law (policy, dispute resolution, institutions), governance, transactions, finance, securities, competition, taxation, insolvency, and related areas. Categories of Candidates Academic: Strong academic background, demonstrated academic leadership, and teaching skills. Senior Legal Professional: Highly experienced legal professional with national/international reputation. Responsibilities The Chair will engage with faculty, students, and members of the local legal profession to generate enthusiasm about the College’s business law programming. In the academic category, the successful candidate is expected to enrich intellectual life by pursuing a research program, teaching at least one course or seminar, delivering a public lecture, and planning/hosting a conference or scholarly workshop. In the senior legal professional category, the Chair will engage in outreach activities with the bar, judiciary, and wider community during their tenure and will receive administrative and financial support for research and outreach obligations. Term and Compensation Term length is normally one year, but shorter terms may be considered. Salary is commensurate with experience and rank (Associate or Full Professor). Potential salary ranges: Associate Professor $135,535–$157,543; Professor $157,543–$183,219 (with higher starting salary possible). Comprehensive benefits include dental, health, vision, pension, life insurance, sick leave, travel insurance, death benefits, employee assistance, professional expense allowance, and flexible health & wellness spending.
