Electrical Engineer – HVDC and FACTS Study Engineer Type of position: Regular Join BBA and make the most of your expertise by contributing to major HVDC and FACTS projects that shape tomorrow’s power systems. You’ll play a key role in delivering innovative solutions for our clients, from early‑stage studies to implementation. The position offers the chance to work closely with industry leaders, mentor the next generation, and represent BBA in technical committees. Responsibilities Perform detailed HVDC and FACTS studies and apply them to complex power systems Work with clients, project managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality solutions Guide, mentor and train junior engineers in HVDC/FACTS technologies Represent BBA in technical committees and industry working groups Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development activities Prepare and review reports, specifications, proposals and estimates Qualifications Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in electrical engineering P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration At least 10 years of industry experience, including 5+ years in HVDC/FACTS Expertise in HVDC/FACTS studies and related codes and standards Expert PSCAD user Proficient in PSSE Strong communication and critical‑thinking skills Ability to travel within Canada, the USA and internationally for short‑term assignments Project management knowledge (scoping, planning, estimating) Familiarity with electrical protection and control systems Knowledge of IEEE, NEC or IEC standards Knowledgeable in real‑time simulation Benefits & Rewards Annual base salary Annual premium program for regular employees Time bank On‑site mobility premium Cellphone fee reimbursements Group insurance plan from the first day of employment, including disability insurance and a telemedicine program Retirement savings plan Annual vacation and sick leave Premium for employee referrals Participation in innovation projects Access to a leadership program A flexible schedule that combines office presence and working from home An inclusive culture that values diversity, respect and openness About BBA BBA is one of Canada’s leading private consulting engineering firms, with over 45 years of experience serving the energy and natural resources industry.
