GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY The Director of Finance (DF) provides strategic financial leadership and oversight for the Athabasca Health Authority (AHA). Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors, the Director is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of financial management and fiscal accountability for the organization. As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Director works collaboratively with leadership, community partners, and funders to ensure sound financial stewardship, compliance with legislative and regulatory standards, and alignment with AHA’s mission, vision, and values. The Director also provides financial analysis, reporting, and strategic advice to support operational planning, program delivery, and sustainable growth. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership and Management Lead the Finance Department in delivering accurate, timely, and compliant financial services, reporting, and planning. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and internal controls. Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and represent a true and fair view of AHA’s financial position. Coordinate annual external audits and ensure audit readiness. Oversee preparation and submission of GST returns, T2 corporate tax returns, and other regulatory filings. Maintain effective systems for accounting, payroll, and financial reporting. Monitor cash flow, funding allocations, and investment activities to ensure long‑term financial sustainability. Strategic Planning and Advisory Provide financial and strategic advice to the CEO, Board, and SMT to support decision‑making and long‑term planning. Develop, implement, and monitor financial strategies, performance indicators, and fiscal policies that align with AHA’s goals. Lead financial risk management, internal controls, and policy development. Participate in strategic and operational planning processes to ensure resources are allocated efficiently and effectively. Governance, Compliance, and Audit Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and organizational financial policies, regulations, and the Canada Tax Act. Support preparation of Board financial reports and presentations. Liaise with auditors, government funders, and financial institutions to maintain transparency and accountability. Community Engagement and Cultural Competency Promote financial transparency and accountability to community members and stakeholders. Demonstrate and promote cultural competency and humility, ensuring financial operations respect Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and community priorities. Build relationships with northern and First Nations communities to support AHA’s mission and programs. Leadership and Team Development Provide guidance and mentorship to Finance Officers and departmental staff. Foster a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and continuous improvement. Lead and support change management initiatives to enhance financial systems and service delivery. QUALIFICATIONS Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required. Minimum five (5) years of progressive management experience in finance, preferably in health care or the public sector. Experience working in northern, rural, or Indigenous community settings considered a strong asset. Strong knowledge of the Saskatchewan health system, funding models, and reporting requirements. Proven ability to manage budgets, audits, and multi‑source funding. Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Effective interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution abilities. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. Willingness to reside in or relocate to Stony Rapids Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and ethical decision‑making. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment. Cultural awareness, sensitivity, and respect for Dene culture and traditions. Capacity to manage competing demands and deadlines in a dynamic work environment. Commitment to client safety, continuous improvement, and quality assurance. Working Conditions Normal office environment with occasional travel within the Athabasca region and, as required, within Saskatchewan. Exposure to diverse operational demands and multiple priorities. Regular engagement with community partners, funders, and government agencies. SCHEDULE Monday – Friday: 9:00 am – 12:00 noon (lunch break 1 hour) 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm 7.5 hours a day 37.5 hours a week Break Time: 15 minutes morning at 10:00‑10:15 am 15 minutes afternoon at 3:00‑3:15 pm #J-18808-Ljbffr
