Many Nations Financial Services Ltd. (a subsidiary of Many Nations Co-operative Ltd.) is seeking a Director of Finance based in Saskatoon SK

Many Nations Financial Services Ltd. is an insurance brokerage company based in Saskatoon SK that offers group life and health benefits and retirement solutions to clients (primarily Indigenous) across Canada.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will:

-safeguard the assets of Many Nations Financial Services Ltd. (MNFS) and Many Nations Co-operative Ltd. (MNCL) through the development, implementation and monitoring of internal controls;

-develop, establish and implement accounting policies and procedures that ensure accurate and complete financial records in accordance with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and government and industry regulations;

-prepare the annual operating budget in conjunction with the annual operating plan for approval by the Board of Directors;

-prepare and present performance and progress reports on a regular basis to the Board of Directors to ensure that the Board is fully informed of all activities affecting MNFS and MNCL;

-provide the Board of Directors with financial and technical information and background information as required to enable the Board Members to make sound decisions;

-attend meetings of the Board of Directors and present financial and variance reports;

-supervise and mentor accounting staff in all areas of finance (including payroll);

-perform administrative duties for the Many Nations Multi-Employer Pension Plan;

-maintain insurance policies on behalf of MNFS, MNCL and the Pension Committee (fiduciary liability, professional liability, cyber, directors and officers and commercial policies);

-ensure that preventative maintenance and service contracts are in place, maintain equipment inventories, evaluate new equipment and techniques;

-foster a positive organizational culture and work environment.

Qualifications Skills and Experience

  1. combined education and experience to perform full-cycle accounting duties and all other responsibilities entailed in the role;

  2. possess excellent financial management skills;

  3. proven capability as an effective communicator, oral and written;

  4. understanding of Indigenous cultures and taxation;

  5. proven ability to inspire and lead a team;

  6. an appreciation and sensitivity to the diversity of opinions, skills and talents of others.
