Emergency Management Officer (ID: 54038) Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (Hybrid within Alberta, within Edmonton Zone) Classification: Officer | Union: Exempt | Employee Class: Regular Full Time | FTE: 1.00 Primary Location: CN Tower | Minimum Salary: $30.90 | Maximum Salary: $53.08 per hour | Vehicle Requirement: Driver's License, Vehicle Required Posting End Date: 07-JAN-2026 Your Opportunity The Emergency Management Officer works both independently and in a team environment with a wide variety of internal and external partners. They maintain strong linkages with service providers across the organization and the Zone, as well as with external agencies throughout the emergency management cycle. Responsibilities include supporting and facilitating organization and Zone-wide emergency management activities such as hazard vulnerability and risk assessments, mitigation, planning/preparedness, incident command training, HazMat First Receiver Program, response, recovery, and promoting personal disaster preparedness. Description Act as a consultant/expert in the implementation of facility-specific response plans. Oversee and facilitate timely review and update of site plans. Deliver the HazMat First Receiver Program to ED and UCC staff. Provide classroom-based instruction, in person or virtually. Design, deliver, and/or participate in multi-agency exercises. Assume project leadership positions as required. Participate in internal and external planning committees and working groups. Conduct post-incident/post-exercise reviews and follow up on actions. Act as a Zone liaison with external partners for inter-agency training and exercises. Prepare situational and other written reports. Participate in research studies and apply best practices to EDM work. Contribute to reporting on key performance indicators. Required Qualifications Undergraduate degree; preferably in Emergency Management and/or a Health Profession. Master’s level degree with healthcare experience desirable. Five to ten years’ experience within a healthcare environment, including supervisory/management experience. Knowledge of current trends and practices in emergency management. Ability to keep current in a fast-growing industry and work effectively under stressful conditions. Additional Required Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication and preparation of reports and papers. Demonstrated ability to lead, directly or indirectly, multidisciplinary project teams. Required Emergency/Disaster Management courses & experience to be obtained within 6 months of hiring: Basic Emergency Management, Incident Command System Level 200, Exercise Design, Business Continuity Management, Hazmat. Preferred Qualifications Critical thinking; knowledge of theoretical underpinnings of basic E/DM core competencies and limitations. Ability to identify gaps in emergency/disaster understanding and preparation. Knowledge of legislation, regulation, and codes that impact emergency planning/response. Experience in exercise design, facilitation, evaluation, and follow-up on corrective actions; experience in PM. Professional designation and/or registration an asset.
