Position Summary The Commercialization & Compliance Manager is responsible for managing new product commissioning, regulatory compliance, quality programs, and health & safety activities within the facility. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Director of Operations, this role ensures new products are fully documented, validated, and ready to be handed over from R&D into Production. You will oversee production documentation and manage compliance with SQF, CFIA, FDA, and Organic requirements, and lead the day-to-day functions of the Quality and Health & Safety teams. This role also supports continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization, waste reduction, and the verification and validation of processes. What You’ll Do Manage the commercialization phase for new products, acting as the link between R&D and Production to ensure all processes, documentation, and compliance requirements are complete prior to operational release. Develop production-ready process flows, parameters, and operational requirements. Commission new processes, equipment, and packaging formats. Validate production line capability for each product format. Develop, review, and approve SOPs, PRPs, forms, and production records. Conduct operational risk assessments to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient product introductions. Manage regulatory compliance for all new products, ensuring alignment with internal standards and external regulatory requirements prior to operational release. Lead process improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, performance improvement, and risk mitigation. Support internal verification and validation of preventive maintenance processes. Lead the Health & Safety Program, ensuring compliance with WorkSafeBC and internal safety standards. Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Lead the Joint Health & Safety Committee and promote a strong safety culture. Oversee safety onboarding, training, SOPs, and competency assessments. Monitor quality and safety KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Compliance, and other stakeholders. What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related field. Master’s Degree in Sciences or related field (preferred). Better Process Control School certification (preferred). Minimum 3 years of experience in food manufacturing. Strong regulatory and Quality Management Systems knowledge. Proven experience commissioning new products, preferably in the food industry. Strong mechanical aptitude with understanding of equipment capabilities and constraints. Experience with corrective and preventive actions, root cause analysis, and risk assessments. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross‑functional teams. A collaborative, organized, and accountable leader with strong problem‑solving skills. Champion for food safety, product quality, regulatory compliance, and workplace safety.
