Senior Construction Advisory Consultant

OverviewJ.S. Held is actively seeking a Senior Consultant for the Construction Advisory Team, specializing in Claims and Dispute Resolution in the Toronto, Ontario area. We are seeking individuals that have a specialization in construction claims and dispute resolution. This position is for a professional who has knowledge or experience with contract and/or change order management, critical path scheduling analysis, preparation of change orders or claims, cost analysis and quantification of damages, review of drawings and specifications, and other engineering and construction-related documents.The work performed by the Senior Consultant may include the review and analysis of construction schedules, job cost reports, labor records, production quantities, earned values, project reports, change orders, contracts, correspondence, and other project records.ResponsibilitiesSchedule delay analysisLoss of productivity/Efficiency analysisScope change assessmentAnalysis of labor, equipment, and material costsCalculation of escalated material and/or labor costsExtended general conditions and requirements analysisQuantification of unabsorbed home office overheadReview and organization of project documentsDevelopment of work product, draft memos, presentations, and reportsTravel as needed to project sites and client officesQualifications5+ years experience with engineering or construction firms, or a construction claim/dispute firmBachelor's degree in Construction Management or an Engineering discipline such as Structural, Civil, Electrical, MEP etc.Member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)Microsoft Office - Advanced skills preferredBluebeam or other PDF management softwareScheduling software - Microsoft Projects/Primavera ProductsAnalytical aptitudes and attention to detailCritical thinking and problem-solving abilitiesCharacter RequirementsCommunication: Effectively communicates at all organizational levels, both in writing and orally. Maintains confidentiality of clients and the firm.Project Focus: Sees things through to completion, deals effectively with potential obstacles and exhibits the flexibility to adapt to whatever a situation calls for. Work is completed within designated timeframes. Take proper action when time frames cannot be met to assure the work of others is not compromised.
