Job DescriptionJOB TITLE: Assistant Asset Management Data Analyst – Co-opDEPARTMENT: Public Works and EngineeringNUMBER OF POSITIONS: 2JOB STATUS & DURATION: Temporary 4-monthsWORK TERM: May 4, 2026 - August 21, 2026HOURS OF WORK: 35 hour work week - variable hoursLOCATION: West TowerHOURLY RATE: $20.13JOB TYPE: Management and AdministrationPOSTING DATE: January 9, 2026CLOSING DATE: January 19, 2026Area of ResponsibilityThe Facilities Asset Management and Capital Planning team is part of the Facilities Operations and Maintenance department and contributes to the functioning of City facilities by conducting various audits and inspections.The Co-Op Student will collaborate with other members of the Facilities Asset Management team on one or more projects while taking the lead on gathering, analyzing, and reporting on Asset Condition assessments and other datasets. The student will be responsible for contributing ideas and insights toward the achievement of project and department objectives. Additionally, involvement in developing trends and patterns from the data, interpreting and communicating findings to stakeholders, and participation in overall project execution activities will be required. The placement will provide an opportunity to develop the understanding of Facilities Asset Management, condition assessments on municipal facilities while providing public sector experience. It is an excellent opportunity to work alongside professionals to plan and improve the delivery of programs, Asset management & Engineering and project management skills.Work with FAMCP team members to analyze, gather and report on various datasets while developing project coordination skills. The following are indicative of the work that will be required:Contributing to the development of analytical models techniques to analyze and understand dataReview Asset Condition assessment reportsPrepare and update Asset project tracking excel dashboards and maintain various databasesManaging, cleaning and manipulating data using R, Excel, Access and other toolsIdentifying key themes and insights from the data, discovering patterns and trendsPreparing maps, tables, reports, charts, and presentations to communicate results and findingsAssisting with project planning and management, business analysis and requirements gatheringResearch and present solutions for data management and project status trackingResearch best practices and develop project plan for identified projects to ensure milestones and targets are achievedSelection CriteriaMANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:Student must be enrolled in any University or College Co-Op. Proof of enrollment letter will be requested prior to job offer.OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:Interest in Facilities Asset Management & Capital Infrastructure PlanningIntermediate level skill or better using Microsoft Excel; knowledge of VBA is considered to be an asset (coursework or work experience with Excel VBA)Understanding of databases and data managementExcellent problem solving, analytical, oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with strong attention to detailAbility to effectively communicate complex ideas while collaborating and managing multiple projectsNotes: These positions are funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program (2026) and all applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria.
