Job Summary The Development Officer plays an integral role within the Development team and is responsible for managing a portfolio of potential and existing donors capable of making mid‑level gifts between $2,500 to $24,999 annually. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the incumbent will identify, develop, and maximize philanthropic support from individuals and businesses to increase awareness and support HSC Winnipeg’s programs, initiatives, and goals. The Development Officer forges and fosters relationships with key supporters by engaging in effective identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities to meet annual revenue objectives. A significant amount of their time will be spent directly engaging in and upgrading new and existing donors. Key Duties & Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of 150–200 annual and mid‑level donors, focusing on engagement, retention, and growth. Develop and execute tailored plans to identify, solicit, steward and grow new and existing donors. Increase recurring gifts, automatic renewals, and payroll deductions. Identify major gift prospects and guide them through the annual giving pipeline towards the next giving level. Prepare compelling fundraising materials including proposals, presentations, and donor communications. Work in a metric‑driven environment, setting annual targets, outreach strategies, and reporting on activities against targets to achieve/exceed annual performance metrics and fundraising goals. Maintain accurate donor records and contact history in Raiser’s Edge. Understand and communicate the Foundation’s fundraising priorities and initiatives. Partner with Marketing & Communications to identify and share impactful donor and patient stories across multiple platforms. Work closely with Foundation staff, volunteers, and hospital teams to achieve shared goals and report progress. Represent the Foundation with professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm at internal and external events. Participate in committees and support annual fundraising events. Take initiative and contribute to a collaborative, mission‑driven team. Perform additional duties as assigned. Education & Experience Proven success in securing and stewarding and upgrading mid‑level gifts. Minimum 3 years experience and proven success in a fundraising role, with an undergraduate degree or equivalent experience. CFRE designation and Raiser’s Edge experience are preferable but not required. Interest or experience in working with major donors is considered an asset. Skills & Abilities Strong leadership, teamwork, and relationship‑building skills. Excellent communicator with demonstrated effectiveness in writing, presenting, and connecting with diverse audiences. Highly organized and self‑motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Professional, diplomatic, and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment. Comfortable with financial tracking and donor database systems (Raiser’s Edge experience is a plus). Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Valid driver’s licence and access to a motor vehicle.
