THE ROLE Helcim is searching for a Data Platform Engineer to be responsible for building and maintaining our data platform that powers Helcim in its mission to become the world’s most loved payments company. As a member of a diverse and collaborative team, you will be joining Helcim’s data centre of excellence, creating the infrastructure that enables Helcim to generate deep insights into our work. This will involve expanding upon our existing AI tooling, continuously improving our platform architecture, as well as ongoing real‑time modeling & monitoring of our data (across structured and semi‑unstructured data). You’ll be working in a highly collaborative environment across multiple functions to design & develop scalable data assets & products. DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES Design and implement end‑to‑end data pipelines across structured & semi‑unstructured data to serve our machine learning models, AI systems, and business intelligence needs. Expand upon our existing AI tooling to implement solutions for data analytics & data management needs. Help define our data governance needs and build out automations and AI tools to ensure our data platform matches them. Continuously improve our existing self‑hosted data platform infrastructure while ensuring optimal performance. Enhance Helcim’s data centre of excellence by equipping teams with the necessary data and tools, fostering broader interaction and contribution to the data platform by providing training, conducting code reviews, and co‑designing solutions with other Helcim members. A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE You’re an experienced data professional who thrives on solving complex, real‑world business problems. You have a track record of building reliable & resilient solutions that enable business‑impacting decisions. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 3+ years of experience as a data engineer or similar role Experience working with both structured and unstructured data Experience working cross‑functionally to deploy data products into production Demonstrated ability to engage with cross‑functional and non‑technical stakeholders to understand project objectives, gather requirements, and build data assets that solve needs across multiple domains. Ability to implement architectural patterns and data assets that match those patterns. A proactive mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, prioritizing iterative technical solutions to solve complex problems. BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE Experience working with financial, go‑to‑market, and sensitive data. Experience working with the programming languages of our analytics stack (SQL, Python).
