ABOUT THE POSITION Summer Student - Policy Analyst Job Req: 1052 Location: St. Albert - Corriveau Division/Branch: Policy & Public Affairs / Policy & Program Development Classification: Student Status: Casual - Student Salary: $18.97 - $22.72 per hour Reports to: John An Closing Date: February 13, 2026 JOB SUMMARY Student Opportunity: Policy Analyst in action Are you curious about how public policy is shaped, analyzed, and implemented in real time? Join us as a Summer Policy Analyst and help support policy development in Alberta’s liquor, gaming, cannabis and strategic policy areas. You’ll gain hands‑on experience researching emerging topics, analyzing data, drafting materials for decision-makers, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders - all while contributing to meaningful public‑sector work. What You’ll Do: Conduct research and data analysis to support policy recommendations Contribute to work plans, policy projects, and Request for Decision documents Prepare briefing materials and documentation for internal use Assist with stakeholder outreach to support policy changes and initiatives Collaborate with experienced policy professionals in a supportive environment What You’ll Gain: Experience working in a real policy shop Exposure to the public‑sector decision‑making process Opportunities to strengthen research, analytical, writing, and communication skills Mentorship, resume‑building experience, and networking opportunities Duration: May 4, 2026, until August 28, 2026. Hybrid position (up to 2 days a week working from home) SKILLS & ABILITIES: Currently enrolled and returning to a Bachelor of Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Economics, Business, or a related discipline Strong communicator who enjoys research, problem-solving, and critical analysis Curious about how government policy works in practice Assets include: Experience with SharePoint or MS Office productivity tools Previous research or writing experience (academic or applied) NOTE: To be eligible to work for AGLC, you must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or eligible to work in Canada.
