Want a summer job that blends community outreach, learning, and meaningful public impact? As a Social Responsibility Representative (Summer Student), you’ll become an ambassador for AGLC’s Social Responsibility programs – supporting initiatives that promote safer play, informed decision‑making, and healthier communities across Alberta. Over the summer, you’ll rotate through different programs, assist with events and assessments, and gain real behind‑the‑scenes exposure to how harm‑reduction programs are designed, implemented and evaluated. You’ll be out in the community, in casinos and licensed venues, and in the office working alongside program specialists. If you care about people, communication and public good, this role offers a unique front‑row seat. What You’ll Do: Support AGLC’s Social Responsibility programs: GameSense, Self‑Exclusion, DrinkSense (Best Bar None) and CannabisSense. Shadow and assist Program Specialists and GameSense Advisors at industry and community events Shadow and assist Best Bar None staff during venue assessments at bars, pubs, lounges and restaurants Provide general branch support including mailouts, responding to inquiries and collaborating across teams Represent AGLC at select outreach activities to promote responsible use and available supports Build strong knowledge of AGLC programming and confidently support public education efforts What You’ll Gain: Exposure to harm‑reduction and corporate social responsibility in action Experience balancing regulatory mandates with public health goals Hands‑on engagement with the gaming, liquor and cannabis industries Coaching, mentorship and regular feedback from experienced professionals Onboarding, structured learning, and scheduled check‑ins to support success Career development skills for anyone pursuing social services, health promotion, public policy, education or community engagement A chance to build confidence, communication skills and professional networks Additional opportunities for certified training. Hybrid position (up to 2 days a week working from home) SKILLS & ABILITIES: Currently enrolled in post‑secondary studies — ideal for students in Humanities, Health Promotion, Social Work, Recreation, Education or related fields Returning to studies in Fall 2026 Comfortable speaking with the public, including individuals who may be experiencing harm Empathetic, non‑judgmental and tactful, with strong communication skills Organized, reliable and willing to travel within Alberta Able to work both independently and collaboratively Curious about social responsibility, public health, harm reduction or community engagement NOTE: To be eligible to work for AGLC, you must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or eligible to work in Canada.
